"This Eiswein was harvested at 138° Oechsle on December 5, 2016. It offers a hugely aromatic and very pure nose of fruit salad, mint, fine herbs and a hint of slate. The wine proves driven by the fruity side on the palate, but the Eiswein acidity bite does not come through on the palate, it is rather the fruity side enhanced by a zesty acidity. The finish of this “Auslese GK Eiswein” styled wine is juicy and elegant."

"The 2016 Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Eiswein is concentrated and ripe on the nose, though not as precise and clear as the perfect Eiswein should be. On the palate, however, this is a very fine and elegant, wellbalanced and delicate Riesling with vegetal flavors in the aftertaste. It is dense and velvety textured and shows nice, ripe and vital acidity. 215 grams per liter of residual sugar. A total of 180 liters were produced. 375-ml bottles. Tasted February 2018."
Eiswein fra Karl Erbes
Den røde skifer på Ürziger Würzgarten gør noget helt særligt ved Riesling. Vine herfra får en blomstret, let krydret karakter, som du bare ikke finder i Riesling der har vokset i grå skifer.
Eiswein må høstes hvis druerne holder minimum 110 graders Oechsle og det fryser 7 grader. De betingelser indtræffer ikke hvert år ved Mosel, men det gjorde de i 2016 på Ürziger Würzgarten. Kuldegraderne fryser vandet i druerne, og dermed presses et koncentrat af sukker og aromastoffer ud af druerne. Det er vaskeægte voksenslik.
